Are you a recent graduate with a passion for financial regulation and risk management? Southern Cross Financial is seeking a detail-oriented Compliance Analyst to join our growing Compliance & Risk team as we navigate an increasingly complex regulatory landscape.

About the Role

Reporting to Annabel Tan, Head of Compliance & Risk, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring our financial services operations meet ASIC requirements and industry best practices. This is an excellent opportunity for a law, finance, or business graduate to build expertise in financial services compliance while working directly with experienced advisers and senior management.

As we implement new regulatory frameworks following the Banking Royal Commission reforms and prepare for upcoming adviser education standards, you'll be at the forefront of maintaining our Australian Financial Services Licence obligations while supporting our mission to deliver personalised wealth management advice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adviser Conduct Monitoring: Review adviser activities, client interactions, and advice documentation to ensure compliance with ASIC regulations and internal policies
  • File Reviews: Conduct systematic reviews of client files, Statement of Advice documents, and ongoing service records to identify compliance gaps
  • Compliance Registers: Maintain and update breach registers, training records, and regulatory correspondence databases
  • Documentation Support: Assist with preparation of compliance reports, ASIC submissions, and internal audit documentation
  • Policy Implementation: Help roll out new compliance procedures across our wealth management and lending teams
  • Training Assistance: Support delivery of compliance training sessions for advisers and support staff
  • Regulatory Research: Monitor ASIC updates, industry guidance, and regulatory changes affecting our operations

What You'll Bring

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business, or related field
  • Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills with ability to identify inconsistencies and potential compliance issues
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with advisers, clients, and regulators
  • Technology: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with compliance management systems preferred
  • Initiative: Self-motivated approach with ability to work independently while contributing to a small, collaborative team
  • Understanding: Basic knowledge of financial services regulation (ASIC, APRA) and willingness to develop deep expertise
  • Integrity: High ethical standards and commitment to maintaining client confidentiality

Previous internship or work experience in financial services, law firms, or professional services environment highly regarded.
